The Vic Firth Robert van Sice Series feature two different lines of mallets: Mono-Tonal and Multi-Tonal. The M114 medium marimba mallets are in the Mono-Tonal line, featuring rubber cores wrapped with layers of yarn with varying tension between layers, allowing little contact noise. The M114 are great general mallets, able to cover the entire marimba with great tone and projection.

The M114 feature long maple shafts for extra reach at larger intervals, which is great for modern marimba music, and are the most popular model in the Mono-Tonal Series!
